Ancestros es un proyecto que nació en una temporada de trabajo e investigación sonora en el Valle Sagrado de los Incas. Suavemente fue gestándose y creciendo entre los sonidos típicos del lugar, el huaynito que viene transportado por el viento desde otra localidad, las conversaciones en quechua en los micros, los niños riendo y jugando, el perro que ladra y así fue trayendo al recuerdo sonidos de la propia infancia. Es una exploración por la música ambiente, con vibrantes estados emocionales, transitando por paisajes y campos atmosféricos, brillantes y oscuros, altos y profundos.

En el álbum, Valicha comienza una investigación en sus propias ramas genealógicas buscando re-conectar con sus ancestros a través de la búsqueda abstracta de la música. Esta indagación instintiva, primeramente interna y personal, fue produciendo resultados con sonidos que la invitaron a abrirse hacia una mirada más amplia. Todos hemos escuchado a la madre, al niño, al abuelo, a la luchadora, al feto, al agua que corre, al metal que fricciona, al pálpito…son sonidos comunes, inherentes a toda experiencia humana, es información codificada en nuestro cuerpo, en nuestras células. Las voces ancestrales -como los ikaros de la maestra Olivia- le cantan a esa información común. Así, este álbum se presenta como un conductor unificador, un espacio de escucha interna que nos invita a re-conectarnos con nuestras historias, con las voces de nuestros ancestros.

Ancestros is a project that started while working on sound research in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It grew and developed among the local sounds of the place; the huaynito that is carried by the wind from another town, the conversations in Quechua on the bus ride, the children laughing and playing, the barking dog...and thus it began to recall distant memories of sounds from childhood. It is an exploration of ambient music, with vibrant emotional states, traveling through atmospheric landscapes and fields, bright and dark, high and deep.

On the album, Valicha begins an investigation into her own genealogical tree, seeking to reconnect with her ancestors while experimenting with abstract sounds and field recordings. This instinctive process, deeply personal at first, produced results that revealed a broader insight. We all have heard the mother, the child, the grandfather, the overcomer, the fetus, the water running, the metal crushing, the heartbeat... These common sounds are inherent to all human experience and are encoded in our body, in our cells. The ancestral voices - like the ikaros of Maestra Olivia - sing to this very information. “Acestros” unifies all these themes and creates a space for internal reflection that invites us to reconnect with our stories, with the voices of our ancestors.
